Trading venues
The companies we cover are listed on the TSX, the TSX Venture, the CSE, the ASX, AIM or Euronext. Nearly all of them also carry a German listing — and that German listing behaves quite differently from the one at home.
These pages describe how those securities trade on the German venues. They are written for two readers: anyone who deals on these venues without reading German, and any issuer that wants to understand what its own German turnover actually represents.
- How Canadian small caps are traded in Germany — the two routes, what happens between order and settlement, the Canadian session expressed in German time, and the tax framework that applies to German residents
- Tradegate, gettex or Frankfurt — who quotes the prices, which trading hours have applied since 2025, and why the displayed liquidity misleads
- WKN, ISIN and ticker — which identifier is unambiguous, what the ISIN country prefix really says, and when an identifier changes
These pages explain execution mechanics. They recommend no security, no broker and no venue, and they are not tax advice.
What has changed recently
The German venue landscape is moving, and faster than the guidebook literature reflects:
- On 1 January 2026 Tradegate Exchange and Börse Berlin merged into the Tradegate Berlin Stock Exchange. The venue has since run both a regulated market and an open market segment, and liquidity is provided by two specialists rather than one.
- The rule of thumb "08:00 to 22:00" no longer holds. Between January 2025 and December 2025, gettex, Börse Stuttgart and Xetra each extended their hours, by different amounts and on different dates.
Both points were wrong in the first version of these pages. We are recording that here rather than correcting it quietly.
On the shelf life of these pages. Trading hours, market segments, venue names and quotation models are operating parameters of the exchanges. They change without any transition period for readers. The date under "as of" is the date these details were last checked at source — not an assurance for the day of reading. The venue's own page governs.
The scope, and its limits
These guides describe the German venues, because that is where our coverage is read and where these securities carry their second listing. They do not describe execution or taxation in any other jurisdiction; we have no verified data for that, and we would rather say so than guess. Readers resident elsewhere should take the mechanics from these pages and their own tax position from their own adviser.
Anyone asking whether a company supports its valuation at all will find that under Methodology and Metrics.
